Title
Tilapia Fish
Description
English: Tilapia fish were famous amulets. The Egyptians believed that this fish was self creative when they observed that it took its eggs or its young offspring were placed in the mouth to protect it from any kind of harm. In addition they believed that it could've had a protective function, particularly for kids and young women. Interestingly, the fish is depicted with one red and one green eye. The small metal attachment on its mouth was possibly once a part of a lotus flower.
