Summary

Description

Seen from Malpaso, at 1500 meters, the highest point of El Hierro. This is not a volcanic crater. The island was 2000 meters high and just 15,000 years ago the missing land collapsed on the ocean. The landsline produced a big tsunami. More information, Canary Islands Landslides and Tsunami Generation (PDF); en español: El Mega-Tsunami que provocó la Isla de El Hierro.
