English: Plaza del Totem is the highest point in Isleta de San Juan (Old San Juan) and is home to the forty-foot ceramic sculpture El Totem Telúrico by local architect/ceramicist Jaime Suarez. The sculpture is a tribute to the discovery of the New World and was commissioned in 1992. It is shaped from black granite and ceramic replicas of archeological artifacts.
