El pez del escudo representa claramente a un sábalo (Alosa alosa). Una especie migradora que habitaba el Guadalquvivir hasta el primer tercio del Siglo XX. Su carne es muy exquisita y es probable que su referencia en el escudo se refiera a las pesquerías que habría de la especie en este tramo del Guadalquivir.
