English: Eskbank Ironworks, Lithgow - Steel furnace c.1901 (Australian Town and Country Journal, 2 Aug 1902, P.31) This furnace was idle by the time that this photograph was published in August 1902. This furnace was the first in Australia to produce steel in significant quantities using the open hearth process.
