Summary[edit]

3D render of a fingerprint detected using the scanning Kelvin probe (SKP). The peaks represent voltages detected along the ridges of the fingerprint left behind on a metallic surface with the salt from sweat generating the tiny corrosion voltages that are detected by the Kelvin probe. This image was printed in FHM magazine UK along with an article about the technique. Picture by James Sullivan.
