The Fairbanks, Morse & Co. Building in Chicago (1907). It was the national headquarters for the company upon its completion in 1907. Fairbanks, Morse & Co. started as a manufacturers of weighing scales. They became increasingly diversified by the time they moved into their new headquarters, making engines, windmills, typewriters, and industrial goods. Fairbanks-Morse engines were heavily used by the armed forces leading up to World War II.The Goodrich Corporation, who bought Fairbanks-Morse, still produce some items under the name, including scales and engines.
