3. In the next surrounding ring, the equally-sized number pairs "1-2" "2-3" "3-4" and "1-4" refer to "corner" betting, i.e., that either of the two numbers will occur, payout 2:1.
4. In that same surrounding ring, the unequally-sized number pairs "1₂" "1₃" "1₄", "2₁" "2₄" "2₃", "3₂" "3₁" "3₁", "4₁" "4₂" "4₃" refer to "twist" betting: either the larger number will win (payout 2:1) or the smaller number will win (payout 1:1).
