Gertrude S. Carraway (1896-1993) was a writer, journalist, leader of the movement to restore Tryon Place, New Bern and the director of the site, 1956 to 1971. Miss Carraway was the president general of the Daughters of the American Revolution, 1953-1956. Photo was by Hugh Morton.
