Summary

Description

Garfield Park in Chicago (1874). The park was originally known as Central Park until it was renamed following the assassination of President Garfield in 1881. It was one of the three original parks on the West Side along with Humboldt and Douglas Parks. The park was originally designed by William Le Baron Jenney. The landscape was redesigned in the 1880s by Oscar F. Dubuis and then again by Jens Jensen in 1905 and 1920.
