DescriptionGeneral J.P. Snyman with General Piet Cronje and Captain of the Transvaal State-Artillery, P.J. van der Merwe.png
English: Taken in the early days of the siege, shows General Piet Cronje (afterwards captured at Paardeberg), whip in hand, standing at the breech of the 94-pounder "Long Tom" nicknamed "Creechy" (abbreviation for Marguerite), or "Creaky," which had frequent duels with the little Nordenfeldt. On his right, pipe in mouth, is Assistant General J.P. Snyman, and on his left is Captain of the Transvaal State-Artillery, P.J. van der Merwe.
