Summary
[edit]The author of this photo is me, David Shankbone. 9 August 2006. Author George Pelecanos reading from his new novel, The Night Gardener. The lighting at the Astor Place Barnes & Noble is horrific, I don't know how he was able to read anything. I had to use my flash; hence, the Photoshopped red eye fix. Anyone is welcome to upload a better photo of him and replace mine. I don't know if I will be able to take pictures there anymore because it is so dank. If you want to contrast the lighting there (WITH FLASH!) versus the lighting at other Barnes & Nobles (WITHOUT FLASH) go here: Mark Green and here: Bjorn Turoque. Sorry it's not better, but one can only flash bulb a person so many times before it is rude.
