English: Young girl (Chios Kore), from the Acropolis, Athens. 6th century BC (ca. 520 BC). Cast of marble figure, painted with pigments in egg tempera. Young girl worshipping her local goddess Athena. Traces of colour on the skin and clothes were recorded by Emile Gilleron in the 1880s. Scientific analysis has verified the presence of several pigments, and these results are used as the basis for the reconstruction.
