Summary
[edit]Description | Picture of Alberto Burri's sculpture Grande Bianco Plastica (Large White Plastic) (1964) at Glenstone in Potomac, Maryland, in 2023. A large plastic and aluminum sculpture in the shape of a painting hangs in a gallery. Several sheets of clear plastic have been fashioned into the shape of a rectangular canvas over an aluminum frame. The plastic sheets have been extensively burned and melted, with extensive holes, openings, and brown burn marks visible across the plastic. Two large burnt openings anchor the top left of the surface of the work. The bottom central portion of the work contains a burnt opening situated next to five smaller burnt openings; three of the smaller burnt patches have been refilled with more burnt plastic. The right portion of the work contains two circular burnt openings situated above several openings that combine to create a vaguely figural form. |
