Summary

Description
English: This is a scan from a 35mm transparency which I took in the mid 1970s at Little Bytham, Lincolnshire, England. It shows a mediaeval stone carving of a "Green Man" outside St Medard's church. Lichen and moss have grown on the face, making him literally green, especially in wet weather. The carving was discovered when restoration work was done to the church: it had been reused, turned face inwards, in a wall. Stylistically it is very similar to one still in position in the porch at nearby Greatford church.

This scan is in the Public Domain (however, I retain ownership and copyright of the original transparency and any higher-resolution scans derived from it).
