Description AWM caption : "At Sea, Turkey. July 1915. A broadside view of the HMS Abercrombie, one of the latest class, at that time, of monitors which, with other warships, began to reappear off Anzac, Gallipoli Peninsula. These vessels were specially built with blister sides to protect the main part of the structure against the shock and destructive effect of torpedo explosion. They were practically floating platforms for two large American guns with 14.5 calibre."
