English: Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the Hilton Parsippany Hotel, Parsippany, NJ Kristen Kowalski, age 16, of Pompton Plains was crowned Miss New Jersey Teen America 2012. In addition to scholarship and cash awards, as reigning Miss New Jersey Teen, Kristen will represent New Jersey in the National Miss Teen America Pageant scheduled for April 14, 2012 located at The Renaissance Center in Dickson, Tennessee.
Miss Kowalski is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kowalski. She is a Honor Roll student and Junior attending DePaul Catholic High School located in Wayne, New Jersey. Her activities and/or hobbies include High School Varsity Cheerleading. Additionally, Kristen dances competitively as a member of the Linda D’Amico’s Academy of Dance Competition Team. As this year teen ambassador, Kristen has chosen to focus on teen alcohol and substance abuse prevention, treatment and education. Her presentations as guest speaker will address chemical dependency issues as it relates to New Jersey teens. She is scheduled to meet with Dr. Figurelli, Ph.D., a nationally renowned expert in the field of addictions, to review the latest research on teen substance abuse.
