Description
English: Arms of Helman of Furland, Devon: Vert, a chevron argent guttée de sang between three pheons or (Vivian, Lt.Col. J.L., (Ed.) The Visitations of the County of Devon: Comprising the Heralds' Visitations of 1531, 1564 & 1620, Exeter, 1895, p.468). John Carew, who in 1616 married Alice Helman (da. of John Helman of East Teignmouth, see Vivian, p.468) wrote a letter to the heralds insisting that the Helman family should be classified as gentry and thus have their arms recorded in the Heraldic Visitations.
