Summary

Description
English: Hydrangea serrata's common names include mountain hydrangea and tea of heaven. Growing to 1.2 m (4 ft) tall and broad, it is a winter-deciduous shrub with ovate-lanceolate leaves and panicles of flowers, which may be blue or pink, in summer and autumn. It is a smaller, more compact shrub than H. macrophylla, with smaller flowers and leaves; it is also more hardy to cold. With a rounded habit, it features dark green, serrated (toothed), leaves to 15 cm (6 in) long, and upward-facing heads of long-lasting, blue or pink individual flowers in mid- to late summer. Both showy sterile flowers as well as less-showy fertile flowers appear in each cluster. The flowers are perfect, having both male and female parts; they are insect-pollinated.
