Summary

Description

A domestic Genesis BH330. I can identify this example as the BH330 by the 17-inch wheels, which always denote a 3.3-liter model in almost all markets where the Genesis is sold. (The exception is the US market, where the 3.3L is not available, and 17-inch wheels are used on lower-end 3.8L models.)

This example has a parking camera at the top of the front grille. It is a feature not found on the export versions of the Genesis; export models get only the rear camera.

Power folding mirrors are another feature considered a must in the domestic market, but left out of some export models, including all US examples.

At this point, I was about to contact CarsDirect.com in Los Angeles to place an order for my own US-market Genesis, to be delivered upon my return home. Seven days later I was back in Los Angeles, and I was driving my own Genesis in another six days.

I noted that almost all domestic examples of the Genesis were in black, silver, or gray. White is the only other domestic color available. Although Hyundai does produce the Genesis in four other colors - red, beige, and two shades of blue - I could never find them domestically, and they soon became export-only. Even in export markets, such colors are rare; I wanted a red Genesis, but ended up taking delivery of a silver one, as there were no red examples in Southern California stock at the time in my preferred configuration.
