Description
English: In Africa, Precambrian mountains often stand out in stark relief as topographic highs midst lowlands covered by sand. Such mountains are found in parts of the Sahara Desert. Here are the Aïr Mountains in Niger, consisting of peralkaline granite intrusions which appear dark (unusual since most granitic masses are light-toned in the field).
