Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) Kirkpatrick Chapel
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) for visual identification of the person in question, at the top of the subject's biographical information in a section at the top of an article concerning her sole cause for notability.
Not replaceable with
free media because
(WP:NFCC#1)
Subject of this image has been dead since 1871. There are no known images, paintings, or photographs of the subject other than the image herewith.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) It will be shown only Kirkpatrick Chapel. Sophia Astley Kirkpatrick and Sophia Kirkpatrick were created as redirects to the Kirkpatrick Chapel article. Her notability is singularly and inherently connected to the chapel and it was more appropriate to discuss her biography and legacy there.
Respect for
commercial opportunities
(WP:NFCC#2)
This painting is hung in the public view in an open, public area of the university. No admission is charged at this site. It is posted on the Kirkpatrick Chapel's website as a non-commercial use to inform the public regarding the portraits of University figures hung in the chapel as part of historical and general interest about the features of the building. I have lowered the resolution so that it is cannot be a commercial viable alternative to the source image.
Other information The subject of the photograph has been deceased since: 1871

I cropped parts of the original image, black background, to focus the image on the subject. I assert that the use of this image will significantly aid in illustrating historical events.
