English: Kisangani in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Kisangani (formerly French: Stanleyville, or Dutch: Stanleystad) is a city in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa. It is the provincial capital of Tshopo Province. Kisangani is located where the Lualaba River becomes the Congo River north of the Boyoma Falls. It is the farthest navigable point upstream from the capital city Kinshasa. Digitized slide.
Nederlands: Kisangani, voorheen Stanleystad of Stanleyville is een stad in de Congo-Kinshasa in Centraal-Afrika. Het is de hoofdstad van de provincie Oost-Congo. Kisangani ligt op de plaats waar de Lualabarivier overgaat in de Congo, ten noorden van de watervallen van Boyoma. Vanaf Kinshasa is Kisangani het verste punt tot waar de Congostroom bevaarbaar is. C'est la capitale de la province Orientale. Kisangani est située à l'endroit où la rivière Lualaba prend le nom de Congo, au nord des chutes Boyoma. La ville s'étend du fleuve Congo à la rivière Tshopo. C'est le lieu le plus lointain que l'on peut atteindre par bateau en remontant le fleuve depuis Kinshasa. Diapositive numerisé.
Deutsch: Kisangani (bis 1966 Stanleyville oder Stanleystad) ist eine Stadt im Nordosten der Demokratischen Republik Kongo und zugleich die Hauptstadt der Provinz Orientale. In Kisangani wird der Fluss Lualaba zum Kongo, nördlich der Boyomafälle. Von hier an flussaufwärts ist der Kongo für viele Schiffe nicht mehr schiffbar.
