Description
English: The Triumph of Fame (Laus or Renown), illustrating Francesco da Barberino's Documenta Amoris. The figure of Laus is a unique allegory invented by the author and explained in detail, like the emblems of Cesare Ripa's 17th-century Iconologia. She is appropriately wreathed in a mandorla and enthroned on lions, but the additional details are idiosyncratic. (Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, ms. Barb. Lat. 4076)
