It is helpful to think of leaves as having a shape and an arrangement. The chart here mingles the two features. Alternate, rosette, peltate, bipinnate, trifoliate, even pinnate, odd pinnate, digitate, whorled, and opposite have more to do with arrangement than the actual shape of the individual leaf.
