| Description |
English: On Tuesday, April 26, 2011, Police responded to a report of a Break and Enter and Theft discovered at the Lighthouse and adjacent building located at the end of Point Aconi Road, Point Aconi.
It appears that the culprits removed two large aluminum outer doors from the adjacent building and once inside the building did damage to the wiring complex which supported the lighthouse. The culprits removed a large amount of copper wiring and also took the two outer doors when they left the area. The lighthouse was also entered and damage was also done to the electrical wiring in the building. Nav Canada was notified and will have staff assess the damage to both buildings and operational functions. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this incident, or who witnessed suspicious activity or persons in the area, is asked to contact the Cape Breton Regional Police Service at 563-5151 or Crime Stoppers at 562-8477 and online at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca . |
