English: This photo, taken in September, 2010, looks west at Pit A of Battery Lincoln, which has been half filled with earth and paved over. It is now used as a parking lot for the Governor's Park Condominiums. Pit B of Btty Lincoln is similar. Pit A of Btty Kellogg, now covered with a building, is located to the east, behind the camera position.
The staircase visible behind the red SUV descends to the original floor level of the pit and enters the corridor that connects the shell/powder rooms in the central magazine of Btty Lincoln, between its two mortar pits. This area was occupied during WW2 by the Harbor Defense Command Post (HDCP) for Boston Harbor. A turn to the right (east) in this area enables one to descend a flight of steps to the 1896-era central east-west corridor than runs across to Btty Kellogg.
