English: 080623-F-7564C-071 Flight line personnel prepare to insert a Modular Airborne FireFighting System unit into a C-130 Hercules aircraft assigned to the 145th Airlift Wing, North Carolina Air National Guard prior to its departure from Charlotte, N.C., June 23, 2008, for Northern California to combat wildfires. The pressurized tank system holds 3,000 gallons of flame-retardant liquid, which can be discharged in less than five seconds. The North Carolina Air National Guard has deployed four C-130 aircraft, their crews and various support personnel to Northern California to assist the U.S. Forest Service in containing wildfires in the area.
