English: Manchester Ship Canal Inspection Saloon (and based at Ellesmere Port) No,6718, converted in 1962 from a GWR 'TOAD' unfitted 20 ton brake van built No.35342, Diagram AA23, Lot 1727, built by BR (WR) Swindon in 1948. The Diagram AA23's were similar to the pre-war standard unfitted Diagram AA19's but financed by the government, 200 of which were financed by the government in 1942-48. Diagram AA21 was a government-financed fitted version, 100 of which were built at Swindon in 1939-40. At Gloucester Docks, 19 September 2009. |
