Coin of Francesco II Gonzaga showing the heraldic badge of a Melting Pot, circumscribed by the Latin motto DOMINE PROBASTI ET COGNOVISTI ME ("O Lord thou hast searched me and known me") (Psalm 139:1)[1] A fire under a melting pot with a bundle of rods: "Presents a so-called 'impresa', that is a figure accompanied by a related motto. The 'impresa' refers to the Battle of Fornovo (1495): Francesco wants to depict his conduct as commander to be as pure as gold which melts in the crucible". (www.coingallery.de [1] )
