Summary

Description
English: Engraved portrait of Maximilien Robespierre by Gilles-Louis Chrétien from a physionotrace drawing by Jean-Baptiste Fouquet, made at their studio in the Cloître Saint-Honoré, Paris 1792. The caption reads: "L'incorruptible Robespierre – Député à l'Ass.blée Nati.ale constituante" and "Dess. p. Fouquet. gr. p. Chrétien inv. du physionotrace Cloître St. Honoré à Paris en 1792".
There is a strong visual relationship with a pencil drawing (Château de Versailles Inv. Dess. 857), which may be Fouquet's original physionotrace (a mirror-image of the engraving), but has been trimmed of its signature.
