Maya Kamath was the only talented and successful lady political cartoonist in India. She used to contribute her cartoons to Deccan Herald, The Times of India, Indian Express and The Asian Age in Bengaluru. She had created her own style of cartooning and had carved out a niche for herself in the field with her sharp wit and humor. She expired at the age of 52. In her fond memory, her family has instituted in IIC, The National and International Maya Kamath Memorial Awards Competition in 2008.
