English: This image depicts the structure of the dioctahedral sheet of a mica. The size of the cations (blue) has been exaggerated and the oxygen or hydroxyl radicals reduced to better depict the dioctahedral sites. The white spheres are apical oxygens and the red are hydroxyl. This is the gibbsite structure except for the substition of apical oxygen for hydroxyl.
