English: The date of 1750 given on the ‘kitabe’ (building inscription) above the entrance is that of the restoration by Mehmet Sait Ağa. In fact, it is not known when the original building was erected; some sources mention a Hoca Mukbil (‘Teacher Mukbil’) who turned a former Byzantine church into a mosque here in the 14th century. Which is consistent with the general looks of the building, outside and inside (even after substantial changes due to its new function).
Note the elements of the former decoration used anew in the front wall.
Attention: There is a town called Belen, this mosque is not in that town.
