English: This is the Mingus Grist Mill, located in the Oconaluftee section of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, just outside Cherokee, North Carolina. Constructed in 1886, the mill remains in operation primarily as a tourist attraction, having been bought by the United States Federal Government to become part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in the 1930s. The structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, partially owing to its atypical turbine system that drives the machinery in the mill.
