Originally intended solely as cargo carriers for ship to shore operations, they rapidly evolved into assault troop and fire support vehicles as well. The types were all widely known as amphtrack, amtrak, amtrac etc., a portmanteau of amphibious tractor. -- in front and in the Philippine Navy [2] The Philippine Navy (Filipino: Hukbóng Dagat ng Pilipinas; abbreviation: PN) is the naval warfare service branch of the Armed Forces of the Philippines[3] and one of the three uniformed services of the Republic of the Philippines.
