Summary

Description
English: New wires at Waverley When the track layout at the west end of Edinburgh Waverley station was remodelled during 2007 the two through platforms outside the station wall, originally provided for suburban trains serving the south side of the city, were temporarily blocked. Here a Colas Rail lorry, Y95 JUJ, fitted with railway wheels, hides safely behind a buffer stop from an East Coast main line train that has terminated in Platform 8. The lorry is carrying a drum of bright copper wire which has just been erected over the tracks both sides of the platform. To the right are buildings that previously served as a fruit and vegetable market and in the background the North Bridge arches gracefully above the station.
