Richard Lane (d.1858), Vicar of Brixton, concerning the estate of Spridleston in the parish of Brixton, Devon, and the arms of Fortescue displayed in a stained glass window now in Buckland Filleigh Church, Devon. (see File:FortescueHeraldicWindow BucklandFilleighChurch Devon.png) (Continuation page not published on fortescue.org.) Rev. Richard Lane (d.1858) of nearby Coffleet was a major landowner and Spridleston was one of his possessions, having been purchased in 1785 by his father Thomas Lane (1741/2 -1817) of Coffleet, from Richard Inglett Fortescue of Buckland Filleigh.
