Summary

Description
English: [For best image quality, download of the original file is recommended.] Simulations show optical pulse propagation, beginning with the low power regime (no soliton; pulse disperses), and at increasing power levels corresponding to nth-order solitons (N indicated midway in the image). Darker image value represents greater amplitude. On the left, the simulated spectrum of the pulse; on the right, the pulse shown in the time domain. Simulation parameters correspond to existing pulsed laser specifications and idealized nonlinear fiber optic medium. Image adapted from PhD thesis (pdf)
