Figure 2589 -- Jules Joubert's step-by-step method of waveform measurement.
This apparatus partially automates the process of graphing the shape of a waveform, by placing a rotating contact on the end of a rotor shaft that touches am adjustable contact around the circumference of the rotor.
The waveform is graphed by moving the adjustable contact and noting the measurement provided by the galvanometer. By plotting these measurements on a scale from 0 to 360 degrees a standing wave can be slowly plotted out, one data point at a time.
