English: Persian army formation. First row: infantryman with big shield and spear. Archers. Last: commanders and overseers(?). Formation was good for defence but poor for attack.
فارسی: آرایش پدافند در سپاهیان ایران باستان. صف نخست: پیاده‌نظام با سپر و نیزه. صفوف بعد: کمانداران. صف پسین: فرمانده یا سرپرست.
Русский: Оригинальное описание: Боевое построение персов. Первый ряд составляли воины в защитном вооружении с большими плетёными щитами и копьями, они должны были прикрывать остальные ряды лучников. Построение замыкали командиры и надсмотрщики, которые удерживали воинов от бегства. Такое построение было хорошо в обороне до соприкосновения с противником, но не могло наступать.
