English: Philemon B. Van Trump was born ca. 1839 in Ohio. On August 17, 1870, Hazard Stevens and P. B. Van Trump, of Olympia, Wash., made the first successful ascent of Mount Rainier (via the Gibraltar route). Van Trump died in 1916 .
