Description

Añañuca de dos colores, Azucena del diablo. Bulbo globoso, 5 cm diametro, tunicado, café oscuro, cuello de 2,5 a 5 cm. de long. hojas alrededor de 4, contemporáneas con las flores, lineares, obtusas 46 a 60 cm de long., alrededor de 1,3 cm de ancho, delgadas en la base, pedúnculo delgado de 30 a 46 cm de largo; umbela de 4 a 9 flores; espata--valvas lanceoladas 2,5 a 3,8 cm de long.; pedicelos delgados, tan largos como la espata, flores ascendentes?, con forma de embudo angosto de 3,8 a 5 cm de largo, rojo brillante pasando a amarillo verdoso hacia la base; tubo corto con forma de embudo, con paraperigonio de 6 diminutas dientes hacia la garganta; tepalos oblanceolados, con una larga uña connivente de 9 mm de ancho en el extremo; estambres desiguales, declinantes, similar en longitud a los tepalos; estilo exerto; estigma capitado.

Especie relativamente común en los áreas bien conservadas de bosque esclerófilo costero e interior, crece preferentemente bajo dosel, pero se puede observar creciendo expuestas al sol incluso en exposiciones norte.
