  • The photo has no copyright marks and no photographer's marks.
  • It was taken between 1939 and 1942 and can be dated by Stafford's career. In 1939, the smaller version of the Pied Pipers returned to work for Dorsey. (Earlier group made only 2 1938 appearances before Dorsey's sponsor fired them.) in 1942, the Pied Pipers parted company with the Dorsey orchestra and went on their own as a singing group. In 1944, Stafford left the Pied Pipers to begin her solo career. The copy on the photo, which is shown in the link: "Jo Stafford with Pied Pipers featured with Tommy Dorsey and his Orchestra." It indicates she was still with Dorsey and the group when the photo was taken. It is well before the pre-1978 limits.
