Português: Dizeres da Placa da Ponte dos Jesuítas em Santa Cruz: Administrada pelos Padres Jesuítas da Companhia de Jesus a então Fazenda de Santa Cruz, desde o Século XVII contava com extensas criações de gado. Em 1752, para evitar as constantes enchentes, irrigar as terras e facilitar a travessia dos viajantes os Padres Jesuítas edificaram a ponte comporta e um sistema de canais, primeira grande obra de engenharia hidráulica no Brasil. Na ponde concebida pelo padre Pero Fernandes destacam-se os arcos de cantaria onde funcionavam as comportas, pilares encimados por coruchéus e ao centro em cantaria uma placa de lioz com insígnia da Companhia de Jesus, inscrições em latim e a data da construção. Com a canalização das águas do Rio Guandu a ponte perdeu a sua função.
