Enamel, gold frame, ribbon-tie surmount

45 by 38 mm.

The sitter was a member of parliament for Peterborough betwen 1741 and 1768. He lived at Brocket Hall in Hertfordshire and in 1755 he was awarded a baronetcy. He married Charlotte Coke and his grandson, Viscount Melbourne, later served as Prime Minster.
