Punchard, "Punchard of Heaton Punchardon - Records of an Unfortunate Family" (1894) suggested this coat given by Pole was that of the Bovey (Little Bovey, per Pole, p.266) line of the Punchardon family. Risdon (d.1640) gave the arms of Willelmus de Ponte Cardonis, de Lydyet as: Argent, a cross moline voided gules.(Tristram Risdon's Notebook, p.247 [1])
