English: The Rampside lighthouse, also known as The Needle, was built between 1805-1870. Its destruction was proposed in recent times, although Rampside residents worked to have it listed as a historic structure, and today it is the sole of survivor of a set of thirteen lighthouses that were built in the period along the coast from Rampside to Barrow-in-Furness.
