Description
English: The Royal Danish Horse Guards at the Port of Korsør on the way to the front line in Schleswig during the First Schleswig War in 1848. The picture is painted by Otto Bache and was commissioned as a present to King Christian IX at his 25 years anniversary on 15 November 1888. Christian IX is himself seen in the middle of the picture, talking to Captain Peter Wilhelm Tegner. The painting is still owned by the Danish Royal Family, who has lent it to be displayed at the museum in Sønderborg Slot.
