Summary

Description

Historical marker at Picnic Pond in St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge memorializing the World War 2 crash of a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bomber during a training flight.

Note: the marker states that the B-17 was assigned to the "325th Bomber Squadron"; the actual unit was the 325th AAF Base Unit (Replacement Training, Bombardment, Heavy), which should not be confused with the 325th Bombardment Squadron, which was deployed in England at the time.
